Previous language instruction does not provide any advantage for an applicant in the admission process at any of the Sacramento Catholic high schools.
All four schools assume that most entering students will automatically be properly placed in first level foreign language. If an entering student does have previous experience, every attempt is made to place that student at the appropriate level. At the initiative of the school or by parent request such students are tested and/or interviewed to determine proper placement.
Although students are not expected to have formally studied a language other than English, all students in the four high schools will have to take at least two years of another language. Proficiency in English and study skills is necessary in order to be successful in the study of other languages.
