Competencies for High School
Entrance
The level of previous exposure to technology
and hands-on computer availability can vary greatly among applicants.
The Catholic high schools expect that each student will have a basic
understanding of information technology/computer terminology and
keyboarding skills.
Computer Skills
- Have keyboarding skills equivalent to
perform at 20-30 wpm with 90% accuracy
- Have hands-on experience with word
processing and at least one of the following general applications:
spreadsheet, database, graphics or communication
Computer Literacy
- Know how to care for computer equipment
properly
- Recognize, understand and use basic
computer terminology (including multimedia and
internet)
- Understand the legal and ethical issues
pertaining to computer use
