Catholic School Department / Diocesan Programs for Catholic Schools

SUCCEED - Sacramento Urban Catholic Children's Equal Education Development

This program provides grants to the seven inner city schools in Sacramento. These grants are used for student scholarships, technology upgrades, curriculum improvements, etc. SUCCEED has an annual fund raising dinner each fall, with all proceeds going to an endowment. We also publish a quarterly newsletter, Kaleidoscope, with information about the schools. For more information about SUCCEED, please click on the link above.

SCORE - Sacramento Children's Opportunities for a Rural Education

This program is brand-new. As the endowment grows, it will provide grants to the rural schools in our Diocese for student scholarships, technology upgrades, curriculum improvements, etc.

SSI - Special Student Initiative

Because Catholic schools do not receive federal money for education, we have established a special fund to help students who need special assistance to attend a Catholic school (e.g., a sign language interpreter, braille books, a special one-on-one tutor, etc.).

"As those first responsible for the education of their children, parents have the right to choose a school for them which corresponds to their own convictions. This right is fundamental. As far as possible parents have the duty of choosing schools that will best help them in their task as Christian educators." The Catechism of the Catholic Church, #2229, USCC, 1994
