January 2011 Vision Statement for Catholic School Education

All Catholic schools will eventually be managed by a fiduciary board of directors made up of the Catholic laity under the governance of the Diocesan Bishop of Sacramento. In those cases where there is evident and urgent need, the transition to the new model of governance will take place over the course of the next three years. In the remaining cases, the change will take place when most opportune. The number of boards and the span of schools under their management will be determined as the plan is implemented, based on what is most effective and efficient.

Our Focus

The Catholic School Department endeavors to support the mission of the Diocese of Sacramento in all that we do. It is the premise for all our administrative, operational, intellectual and spiritual pursuits. The Catholic School Department is responsible for the overall supervision, administration, and organization of diocesan elementary and high schools.

Diocesan elementary and secondary schools are accredited by both the Western Catholic Educational Association (WCEA) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). WASC is the organization that accredits all colleges and universities as well as public and private secondary schools.
